Dominic Clare-Peacock Arts Trail

Dominic Clare is a woodwork artist that uses chainsaw and shot blasting/burning techniques to create sculptures. His studio is open to the public to view as part of the Peacock Arts Trail, running in Corsham and surrounding villages until the 8th October. Michelle Donelan MP, re-elected in Chippenham

We spoke to Michelle Donelan just after her re-election as MP for the Chippenham constituency. She increased her vote from 26,354 in 2015 to 31,267 and had a majority of 16,630. She also increased her share of the vote from 47.56% to 54.72%. We spoke to her just after the declaration of the result, about her victory and her campaign, while the national picture was still unclear.  Watch video >>

Helen Belcher - Lib Dem Candidate

The Liberal Democrat candidate Helen Belcher, came in second place in the Chippenham constituency, with a vote of 14,637 and a share of 25.62%. This compared to the Party's vote in 2015 of 16,278 and a share of 29.38%. We spoke to her just after the declaration, when the national picture was still unclear.  Watch video >>

The 2017 General Election saw the best result for Labour in the Chippenham constituency since 1959, when they increased their share of the vote from 8.23% to 19.66%, more than doubling their vote from 4,561 to 11,236. Corsham's First Instameet

On January 21st 2017, over 40 'Instagrammers' came to Corsham for an 'Instameet'. The group, known as IgersWiltshire, with both amateur and professional photographers, who post their images on the social media platform Instagram, was organised by Visit Wiltshire and they explored various parts of Corsham and the surrounding area. Corsham Youth Council

The Corsham Youth Council was set up in 2008 by the Corsham Town Council with representatives of Corsham's 6 Primary Schools along with students from The Corsham School to advise the Council. They work on a wide range of issues including recently a survey that looked at sports facilities for young people in Corsham, compiling a time capsule not to be opened until 2065, as well as giving their feedback on a parkour area and helping with the Keep Corsham Tidy campaign. The group’s monthly meetings, during term-time, are held in the Council Chamber at the Town Hall. Corsham Remembers

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the time that the First World War ended, Corsham stood still with the rest of the nation for two minutes of silence to remember the fallen in all wars. Corsham Unveils Wiltshire's first Centenary Field

On Armistice Day 2016, the first Centenary Field in Wiltshire was unveiled at The Batters in Corsham. This is to commemorate that in 1915/6 the Scots Guards used The Batters for training before heading off to fight in WW1. They were based at Corsham Court and this report includes old photographs of them digging trenches in The Batters by the railway line. The Centenary Field project was launched in 2014 by HRH The Duke of Cambridge and has brought together Corsham's Town Council with the Fields in Trust charity and the Royal British Legion. Community Policing is coming to Corsham

Following a number of pilots around Wiltshire, from October 17th this year there will be a change in the way that Wiltshire Police look after our community with a shift to what has been called the 'Community Policing Team' (CPT) model. Poppy Harvest at Corsham Town Hall

As part of the preparations for the WW1 Hospital re-enactment taking place this October in Corsham Town Hall, Box based textile artist and 'yarn bomber' Emma Leith has been working with Corsham's knitting and crochet enthusiasts to create a huge number of poppies that will decorate the Town Hall and other parts of the Town. Corsham Fire Station Trek for Julia's House

On Saturday 10th September, 10 firefighters from Corsham Fire Station completed a 26 mile long sponsored walk for Julia's House, the only children’s hospice in Dorset and Wiltshire, dedicated to helping life-limited children and their families across both counties. In the latest of their charity walks, Corsham Fire Station completed the equivalent of a marathon along the Jurassic coast in full fire kit in just 11 hours and 22 minutes! The Corsham School A-Level Art Exhibition

Every year The Corsham School A-Level art students exhibit their work in a show open to the public held at Corsham's Community Campus. Corsham TV had a sneak preview of some of the incredible talent on show. Battle of the Somme remembered 100 years on

July 1st marked the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the Battle of the Somme and Corsham joined many other places around the UK and in Europe with a commemoration ceremony and a two minute silence. One of the bloodiest World War One battles, fought along a 15-mile front near the River Somme in Northern France, 19,240 British soldiers were killed on the first day alone. Five months later more than a million people were dead or wounded from all sides.  Watch video >>

Wiltshire's Road to Rio

Wiltshire Council's Big Pledge returns in June and with it being Olympic year they hope we can really make a difference to our health and wellbeing by signing up to one of this year’s sporting challenges. The 'Road to Rio' was launched at Corsham's Springfield Campus and the Challenges begin on 4 June for eight weeks. Scoop The Poop Campaign

Scoop the Poop is a campaign started by a group of Corsham parents who have taken on the challenge to make Corsham dog poo free. As part of their campaign they held a poster design competition which attracted over 200 entries. The posters are now on display at the Springfield Campus and in this video, Kirsty Hall, one of the parents behind the campaign, reveals the winning poster and what's next to help keep our community dog poo free. Nicola Davis Crafts

Nineteen year old local business owner Nicola Davis has quite a list of achievements to her name already. She is the brains behind the monthly Corsham Creative Market, has her own online craft shop and has recently published a recipe book, 'My Super Sweet Recovery CookBook', designed specifically to help people with eating disorders and written after her own battle with anorexia.
